INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME 2008
Admission Criteria
CASE
runs a six month internship programme aimed at black graduates with a
minimum of an Honours degree and basic computer literacy.
Preference will be given to postgraduates in the Humanities and Social
Sciences.
Applicants should be planning a career in a research-related field and
demonstrate commitment to making a positive contribution to development
in South Africa.
Programme Outline
The
programme will expose the interns to the work environment, enable them
to acquire research skills and provides experience aimed at equipping
them for a career in the field of applied social research.
The
intern will work closely with researchers at C A S E, with an emphasis
on acquiring skills through practical application. This includes
familiarisation with:

The
various components of the research process (conceptualisation, design,
implementation);
¨
Applied research methods (both quantitative and qualitative
methodologies);
¨
Practical experience with various forms of data collection (interviews,
focus groups, surveys);
¨
Qualitative and quantitative data analysis
APPLICATIONS
Applications for the July - December 2008 programme have closed. A call
for applications for the January – June 2009 programme will be made in
December 2008.
